Took the plunge
Well, I did it............I bought a new camera. Well "used" camera - but new to me. It was on Craig's List and the price was well...suspiciously low ($275) as I've never seen them used under $400.(most are in the $600 range) The timing wasn't the best with Christmas and all but I just had to investigate further. A scam? Nope, the guy turned out to be a decent person just trying to unload something he paid a lot of money for and never used. We met at a Starbucks between towns. -I'm big on personal safety. He went over some parts of the camera with me, said he'd try to find the manual. As soon as I got home I found it on the website and downloaded it to my computer.
Yesterday we had our kids Christmas and it was the perfect opportunity for me to jump in. Most came out pretty good and some not - of course I deleted those. Just to get the feel of the camera I used all of the basic settings in hopes that I'd get decent shots. I think this one came out pretty okay for my first day. My 6 yr. old grandnephew made this for his mom. He was so excited to give it to her!
I want to take a beginners class in Digital Photography so I can learn how to use all of the camera and not just "point and shoot". We have an old Victorian Cemetary here with beautiful statuary and I've always longed to take really nice pictures of it. Now I can. A long time ago, I lived near it and used to walk my dogs there all of the time. It's such a pretty place. Some of the most famous people buried there are Susan B. Anthony and Fredrick Douglas.
Oh, should anyone care; my new camera is an Olympus E 500.

Anything I could poss help ya with...I been into photography for 30 yrs.
Thanks Pat! This camera is pretty advanced (for me) and though I do not aspire to be a professional photographer, I'd really like to capture what I feel inside through what I see outside. It has loads of options that I want to know how to use and when.
