Enough
Enough already! I have done nothing but shovel snow for the past three days. Except for Friday evening....I heard the plow guy next door and threw on my coat and boots to run out my front door to catch him. The snow on my front walk was past my knees, very difficult to walk through. I gave him some cash and he plowed out the end of my driveway for me.
It all started around 8 am on Friday. I was already at work by then and all of my grooming dogs dropped off by 8:30. The roads were clean and dry on the way in. By the time I finished all five dogs and called their owners it was 12:30 and there was at LEAST a foot of snow in the parking lot. All of the Snow Advisery Warnings were heard and Dr started sending some of us home. By the time I got my car brushed off it was warm inside. Had no idea what I was in for once I left the parking lot but as I sat in my car telling Honey we were going home I decided it was going to take a very long time. The gas tank was near full, I now have the right tires/rims for the car, the heater works as does the radio and I had myself and my precious cargo to take care of for the 15 mile trek. If I had to go 10 mph so be it, we were getting home in one piece. Pulling out of the lot onto the 5 lane road was a feat in and of itself. Not a single plow had gone by yet and the snow was just as deep on the road as the parking lot......no difference. Visibility was a joke. The whole hour and a half was the same scenario. We crept along at a steady pace on the expressway guessing where the lanes might be and I made very sure that I stayed as far back from the cars ahead of us as possible. Only once did we see a plow. There was so much snow coming down all at once the plows just couldn't keep up.
Nor could I with my driveway. I shoveled some on Friday afternoon when I got home but that was silly as the storm had no intention of stopping until way later in the night. So, Saturday I got up and had quite the argument with the Snowblower Sue left for me here. I lost that battle and gave up trying to start it. I had to shovel myself out to get to work at the kennel for Becky -my neice. Luckily it's only like 2 miles from my house. Once on the main roads it wasn't so bad, still slick but not knee deep. Got home around 2:30 and worked some more shoveling where the drifts were closer to the garage and back door. Sunday morning I shoveled again as it had snowed more during Sat. night. But the sun came out around 10 in the morning and started to melt a little bit of the driveway for me. I then had to head to a town called Fairport about 20 miles from my part of the city to groom a dog. The expressways were wet but clear and it was such a relief. But last night the wind kicked up to about 25-30 mph and it snowed again. Now I sit here dreading the inevitable.................shoveling myself out again.
Did I get pictures of any of this mess with my new camera? Nope. Maybe today.
